Three ELFA and Kinderland preschools teams participated in the 2022 National Preschool Chinese Teaching Aid Competition (Creative Picture Book Storyboard). The teams from the two subsidiaries of Crestar Education Group emerged victorious against more than one hundred other teams.<\/p>\n

The competition was organised by the Singapore Centre for Chinese Language (SCCL). It aims to encourage early childhood educators, students, parents and members of the public in Singapore to design creative picture book storyboards as aids for teaching and learning the Chinese language.<\/p>\n

The competition finals were held on 20 August 2022 at SCCL, and the results were subsequently announced on Facebook.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Team ELFA Chinese Preschool @ Hougang\u2019s Ms Wong Pei Yi achieved the \u201cPromising Award\u201d with her storyboard \u201cThe World of the Future\u201d.<\/p>\n

ELFA\u2019s Curriculum and Professional Development Director, Dr Carol Loy, said, \u201cWe strongly encourage our teachers to participate in such competitions to help them unleash their creativity and talent. The competition experience can help them to create more innovative and localised Chinese teaching aids to promote our preschoolers\u2019 interest in Chinese language learning.\u201d<\/p>\n

SCCL aims to enhance the effectiveness of teaching Chinese as a second language in a bilingual environment. Through the provision of quality training, SCCL hopes to enhance Chinese language teachers\u2019 teaching competency and professionalism. It further strives to promote the development of Chinese culture and language in Singapore.<\/p>\n

The Centre also focuses on researching innovative teaching and learning strategies to strengthen the position of SCCL as the regional teaching and research centre for Chinese as a second language.<\/p>\n
