The children at ELFA Preschool in March experienced first-hand what it was like with water rationing. The taps at the centre were turned off for several hours and they had only two 1.5 litres of bottled water to use for their daily routines, such as washing their hands and brushing their teeth.<\/p>\n

It was one of a series of activities carried by ELFA children to mark Singapore World Water Day. The children learned about water conservation and the need for good usage habits. Even days after the exercise, they were watchful of their water usage and constantly reminded one another of how precious every drop of water is for Singapore.<\/p>\n

In another activity, the Nursery to Kindergarten 2 children enjoyed an exciting outing to the ABC Water Trail @ Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. There they learned about the meaning of water conservation and its importance to Singapore\u2019s survival and sustainability.<\/p>\n

During the trail walk, children were exposed to the safety nodes in the park and the measures they had to take. They were also taught to spot various plants and animals found in the Park and the importance of keeping the river and park clean to support the biodiversity. More importantly, the children had hands-on experience in water filtration.<\/p>\n

Each child took turns to fill up their own bottled water independently for the water ration exercise.<\/p><\/div>\n

At the ABC Water Trail, the teachers conducted a hands-on activity on water filtration with the water collected by the children at the banks.<\/p><\/div>\n
