A vibrant mural made from reused plastic toys was completed on 2 July 2025 at Promenade MRT Station, in support of the Go Green SG movement, celebrating Singapore\u2019s 60th birthday. Graced by Ms Goh Han Yan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, she completed the final pieces of the mural together with esteemed partners \u00a0SMRT Trains, YTL PowerSeraya Pte Limited, and Lions Befrienders.<\/p>\n<\/div>

The Art Mural measuring 13.6 metres wide and 2.1 metres high, is displayed at Promenade MRT Station<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>

Titled \u201cBuilding Our Nation Over Generations\u201d, the mural was created by over 5,000 preschoolers’ family members and 5,000 educators. These came from across Kinderland\u2019s five early childhood brands: Kinderland, ELFA, NurtureStars, Skool4Kidz, and The Grange International Preschool.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Conceptualised by Fadhlin AG, Head of Art at Crestar Learning Centre, the mural features vibrant depictions of national milestones, cultural icons, and beloved mascots.\u00a0 It reflects the SG60 theme:\u00a0\u201cBuilding Our Singapore Together \u2013 Let\u2019s connect, contribute, and show we care.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>

Over six weeks, centres collected 424kg of plastic toy waste. More than 35 percent of this waste was cleaned, sorted, and reused for the mural. This mural was officially recognised by the Singapore Book of Records \u2013 Singapore\u2019s Largest Mural Made of Reused Plastic.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\u201cThis mural symbolises hope, collaboration and a greener future,\u201d said Mr Seet Lee Kiang, Kinderland\u2019s General Manager.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Reagan Wong, Kindergarten 2 student at ELFA Preschool @ Hougang, shared \u201cIt is good to use old toys as we are reusing it and not throwing it away. We are saving the Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reagan\u2019s mother, Ms Toh Shu Ling, also shared \u201cStarting sustainability education early helps children develop lifelong sustainable practices and mindset. Reagan really enjoyed creating this art piece together with his classmates. He added that the teachers and the classmates had to come together to complete it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mural remains on public display at Promenade MRT Station, serving as a powerful reminder that even discarded toys can help build a more sustainable tomorrow.<\/p>\n
