Children from ELFA preschool had the opportunity again to join in the fun and excitement of the annual Sports Fiesta held at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall on 15 October 2016. They participated in various games with some 400 children from Kinderland, encouraged and supported their parents backed by cheers and helping hands from the teachers.
Our Guest-of-Honour Mr Lai Chin Kwang (Chief, ActiveSG, Sport Singapore) shared, “This is an important and significant event for our children who are the pioneer generation of SG100. Through sports, they will become rugged, resilient and learn to be team players.”
From the minute the children marched in for the opening ceremony, they had the chance to be active and engaged not only with their fellow ELFA centre mates, but with children from Kinderland as well. With more than half of the games involving parents, the children had a field day of physical activity and bonding with their loved ones. Parents moved to the accompanying music and carried, guided and cajoled their children forward in the games.
ELFA toddlers too also joined in the fun with their parents closely guiding them in “Hokey Pokey” and “Go, Go, Go” events.
The event was evidently a showcase of the children’s gross motor skills acquired during the time spent at the preschool centres. They showed off their running, crawling and other skills as they participated in the games. They also learned teamwork, especially in the obstacle course where the children have to work together to complete the given tasks.
It was more than a memorable day of fun and laughter, it was a day of dedication to active, healthy living.
