What Makes ELFA Preschool Special?

ELFA is steeped in the Chinese language and culture while helping to shape your child’s morals and values. The emphasis of ELFA’s unique bilingual story-based approach is your child’s Chinese language acquisition. What sets ELFA apart is the integrated thematic learning through Chinese festivals such as Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival, on top of the usual festivals celebrated in Singapore. Designed by a panel of advisors from China and Singapore, the integrated thematic approach is in line with the guidelines by Ministry of Education, Singapore. Our learning environment complements the curriculum and is purposefully planned to boost early language exposure and develop your child’s interest in Mandarin.

ELFA Preschool Chinese Curriculum Programmes

For families seeking quality childcare near Kovan that provides true Chinese language immersion, ELFA Preschool offers more than just a place to learn—it’s where children build lasting memories rooted in culture, discovery, and joy. With a team of dedicated educators, we ensure your child’s early years are filled with wonder and meaningful engagement in both language and life.

At our Kovan preschool, children experience the richness of Chinese heritage through hands-on cultural activities, including traditional calligraphy, opera mask painting, paper cutting, tea appreciation, lion dance, and creative Chinese writing. These immersive experiences not only spark curiosity and creativity but also strengthen fine motor skills, focus, and a deep appreciation for the arts, all within a thoughtfully curated environment that encourages the use of Mandarin throughout the day.

Families across the northeast trust ELFA Preschool at Hougang for offering an exceptional Chinese-focused curriculum. What sets our playgroup in Kovan apart is our award-winning, story-based bilingual approach. Jointly developed by curriculum specialists from Singapore and China, this methodology aligns with Singapore’s Ministry of Education guidelines while making Chinese language learning meaningful, relatable, and enjoyable.

By the time children reach Kindergarten 2, they participate in the internationally recognised HSK-YCT assessment—giving parents a precise measure of their child’s Mandarin proficiency and confidence as they prepare for primary school.

More than just a Kovan childcare centre, ELFA is a cultural haven where language comes alive. Our children celebrate not only local traditions but also important Chinese festivals, such as the Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Chinese New Year, offering a rich and immersive preschool experience unlike any other in the area.

We sent our child to ELFA because we wanted her to learn Chinese. Abigail loves Wang Laoshi and also now loves Chinese. She speaks it spontaneously at home and wants to read Chinese books all the time. We are very thankful to Wang Laoshi for showing so much care for Abigail.

POP ECDA refers to the Partner Operator (POP) scheme, an initiative by Singapore’s Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) to provide more affordable, high-quality childcare and infant care options. Centres in the scheme receive government funding in exchange for committing to meet specific quality standards and adhere to government-mandated fee caps.
