Some 700 toddlers, preschoolers and their parents took part in various events at the combined Sports Day at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall on 16 September, where children from 24 ELFA, Kinderland, and Nurturestars centres gather together.

This event provided unique opportunities for parent-child bonding in several races and games, giving the ELFA children a taste of competitive sports and fun time with their parents.

The programme was kicked off with a parade by Singapore’s very First Preschool Marching Band from Kinderland featuring 66 children playing six different types of instruments, accompanied by a Pom-Pom team.

The opening ceremony began with march-in of the participants, followed by a mass “Salute” to mark NS50 and other highlights including an Olympic-inspired torch relay, a gymnastics display, and speeches by children representing their respective preschools.

Thereafter, it was excitement all the way for the little ones. There were family bonding events for toddlers with their parents, as well as pairs of parents and older children to engage them in coordinated activities. There was a “Chop Chop” game for parents and staff to know each other better, and a Tug-of-War for sporting dads as well. Winners received their “Medals” during the closing ceremony.
