Chinese New Year celebrations may look a little different this year due to safe distancing measures, but it has not dampened the spirits of our little ones at ELFA! To welcome the Year of the Ox, our students at ELFA Preschools celebrated the New Year by participating actively in games and activities prepared by our teachers.
At ELFA Preschools in Singapore, our students and teachers celebrated the New Year by engaging in various games and activities such as Lion and Dragon Dance, writing Chinese auspicious words on paper, calligraphy and lantern making.
In light of the festive season, our teachers prepared various activities to help the children understand more about the festival. They shared the story of the 12 zodiac animals, and the children played a little game of sorting the zodiac animals. Our children also created their own 8-treasure box to store their Chinese New Year goodies using various materials.
One interesting activity that our students engaged in was using the paste of pumpkin and purple potatoes and mixed it with brown rice to make glutinous rice balls! They tasted their friends’ creations and experienced the joy of sharing with one another.
Over at our ELFA Preschools in China, our students celebrated the New Year by putting up a concert performance. Through this concert, we aim to improve the self-confidence of the young ones and enrich their creativity and imagination. Additionally, they went to an art exhibition where they had lots of fun painting, doing art and craft and eating delicious Chinese New Year snacks with their friends.
Our children brought home mandarin oranges and red packets containing a golden coin chocolate to share with their family. The preschoolers had an enriching time learning about Chinese New Year and celebrating with their friends and teachers at ELFA!
