On 25 October 2019, children from ELFA Preschool marked Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, that is celebrated every year by Hindus in Singapore. Our children were brought  on a cultural journey through stories and why Deepavali celebrates the spiritual triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance.

To acquaint them with the Hindu culture, the Children also learned about the costumes worn by Indians, their art and craft and the food and snacks they eat during the festival. They created posters on the Festival and even tried their hands at making Mandalas. The children also had the opportunity to share what they had learned and about their experience with Indian friends.

Through the activities, the children gained a deeper understanding of yet another local culture in our multi-racial, multi-cultural society.
