On 8 August 2025, our little stars at ELFA Preschool @ Hougang and Jurong East came dressed in red and white.  They radiated pride, joy, and excitement as they celebrated Singapore’s 60th National Day.

Children at ELFA Preschool @ Hougang kick off the day with a heartwarming, nostalgic breakfast

At Hougang, the day started with a nostalgic breakfast of kaya butter toast and fresh milk with a twist. Their breakfast came in takeaway bags which we fondly called ‘dabao/打包’ bags in Singapore.  The children’s eyes sparkled as they tasted a slice of Singapore’s heritage.

Our toddlers at ELFA Preschool @ Jurong East proudly taking part in their pledge ceremony

At Jurong East, children proudly sang the National Anthem and recited the National Pledge.
Even our youngest learners understood the meaning of unity and love for the nation.

Our children exploring Singapore’s history through fun and engaging activities

Storytelling sessions brought Singapore’s history to life. Our children learned how Singapore became independent in 1965 and grew into a vibrant, modern city. They eagerly shared their thoughts, making the stories lively and engaging.

The celebrations continued with laughter, creativity, and energy. At Hougang, children danced to SG Active’s “Here We Are” and other National Day favourites.

Delicious National Day-themed cookies, baked with love and care

They crafted Heart SG cookies with care and love. Singapore-themed games like puzzles and the eraser game filled the morning with fun. A mini ‘kacang puteh’ stall allowed children to enjoy nostalgic treats with better food hygiene than back in the days.

At Jurong East, the highlight was the Mini National Day Parade.
Children marched proudly with mini flags, singing classics like “Here We Are” and “Count on Me Singapore.” They performed a delightful musical skit celebrating everyday heroes, from hawker aunties to MRT uncles.

It was a day filled with pride, laughter, learning, and love for Singapore.
A huge thank you to our educators, parents, and little ones for making this day special.
Together, we continue to nurture the values of kindness, respect, and unity in our children.

Majulah Singapura!
