What happens when curiosity meets care for the planet?

At ELFA Preschools, Earth Day became a beautiful celebration of little hands, big ideas, and even bigger hearts.

ELFA children and parents created bags from recycled materials—showcasing creativity while promoting sustainability

At our Hougang centre, the day began with a delightful sight—children arriving in earthy browns and vibrant greens, ready to celebrate their love for nature. Their excitement was contagious! They learnt how small actions—like recycling and reducing waste—can make a big difference to our world.

Before long, the centre was buzzing with music and laughter as the children sang, danced, and moved to lively Earth Day tunes. But the fun did not stop there. From “Recycling Game 101” to a spirited round of “Earth Day Soccer”, learning came alive through play—where teamwork met environmental awareness in the most joyful way.

In the days leading up to the celebration, our little learners also became tiny gardeners in our “Living Earth Experiment”. As they planted and cared for their chia seeds, they were not just watching plants grow—they were learning patience, responsibility, and the magic of nurturing life.

And the learning journey did not end at school. At home, families came together for a special project—transforming recycled materials into creative bags. It was heartwarming to see parents and children bonding over sustainability, turning everyday items into something meaningful and new.

Meanwhile, at our Jurong East centre, Earth Day was just as inspiring. Dressed in calming blues and greens, our children gathered with radiant smiles and inquisitive minds, excited to learn how they can play a part in caring for our planet.

Through engaging stories, songs, and thoughtful discussions, they began to understand that even the smallest actions—like reusing materials or saving resources—can help protect our planet.

The highlight of the day? A hands-on recycled planting activity! With support from parents, children brought used bottles and cups, transforming them into charming mini planters.

The room was filled with excited chatter:
“I want to decorate mine with flowers!”
“My bottle will become a tiny garden!”

It was a joy to watch their creativity bloom alongside their growing awareness of sustainability.

Beyond our centres, we were grateful for the opportunity to extend this learning into the wider community. Thank you to Yuhua PAP Community Foundation for the kind invitation to be part of such a meaningful Earth Day celebration.

Our educators from ELFA Preschool @ Jurong East had a wonderful time joining the community to promote sustainability through engaging, hands-on activities. From transforming recycled plastic cups into mini planters to discovering how everyday “trash” can be given a new life, it was a joyful learning experience for all.

It was especially heartening to see so many energetic families come together in support of a greener future!

At ELFA Preschools, Earth Day is more than a celebration—it is a meaningful step in nurturing compassionate, responsible individuals. Through these shared experiences at school, at home, and within the community, we are planting the seeds for a greener, kinder future—one little Earth hero at a time.
